Stretch your legs on the John Siegenthaler Pedestrian Bridge, which crosses the Cumberland River. This pretty span honors a former editor of the Tennessean, who was a champion of civil rights during his career in journalism.

For Couples Looking to Get Away

Centennial Park, named for the state’s centennial anniversary and host to the World’s Fair in 1897, is a beautiful spot for a romantic stroll. Is Travel Up Legit? 0 308

travel up reviews legit scam

One of the most popular questions we receive on a daily basis is: “Is Travel Up Legit?” We’ll help answer this question and dig into why some think Travel Up might be a scam.

With the high demand of travel discounts and airfare post-pandemic, there’s no shortage of travel websites vying for your business. However, just like with any industry where money exchanges hands, it’s important to be aware of potential scams.

Travel Up has ads all over the internet. In fact, when I was looking for a cheap flight to Miami this past summer, I couldn’t browse any website without seeing a Travel Up advertisement looking for my click. Ads promising competitive rates on airfare, hotels, and rental cars were in no shortage. After a few hundred ads, I finally had to dig in.

If you’re booking travel with a company that is promising rates that are sometimes hundreds if not thousands of dollars cheaper than the competition, it’s hard not to pause and do a little bit more research.

After Googling “Is Travel Up legit” and “is Travel Up a scam”, there were no shortages of review websites with testimonials that ranged from stellar to downright terrible. However, when you’re a big or growing company that is doing a large volume of transactions on the internet each day there’s going to be a mixed bag of reviews. Just look for any review of your local McDonald’s and see what you get. While each franchise is likely rated 1-2 stars, they still pull in millions of dollars each year. So you have to take everything with a grain of salt. Or, at least, that’s what I do.

Is TravelUp.com a Legit Website

While anyone can create a website, it’s hard to fake accreditations. In fact, Travel Up claims that all travel packages are protection by their “ATOL licence (ATOL 7227) in the United Kingdom and our ARC licence within the United States of America.”

According to Trust Pilot, Travel Up has an average review of 4.2 with close to 90,000 reviews at the time of publishing this article.

According to Feefo, their rating, which their boast about a little too much IMO, is 3.6 stars out of 5 with over 1000 1-star reviews. Although on their website they promote a much better graphic illustrating 4.1 stars =)

On Google, their rating drops to 3.1 out of 5.

On Yelp, Travel Up has 1 star with 32 reviews.

While these aren’t the best reviews we’ve seen for a travel agency, they’re not the worst. Again, do your own research and due dilligence.

Travel Up does not appear to be a BBB accredited business, but there are no shortages of complaints on bbb.org.

Example Travel Up complaint on BBB.org

I reserved a room, got a confrontation, once i showed up at the hotel, my room was not reserved. I called travel up, after 2 hours and multiple transfers, they hung up on me.

On Trip Advisor there are no shortage of people either questioning the legitimacy of Travel Up or leaving their less-than-stellar review…

We are looking at using Travelup.com just to book a hotel – it looks really good and a nice price, though as I do not know and have not used the site before I’m worried it’s a scam. The price I found for the hotel we want is around 40 euro cheaper per night than what I can find on other sites.

Has anyone just booked the hotel with this site? I have read alot of reviews and they mainly relate to flights but many are bad. I see they are also advertised and work with skyscanner?(which I would use quite a lot)
